As you know, I'm currently in the final throws of my dissertation, and with three weeks until the deadline me and my laptop have engaged in a bitter love hate relationship.
You wouldn't think there was a limit to the amount of time you can talk about men in Jane Austen novels, but believe me there is. I fall in and out of love with my work every day, which has caused me to be so emotionally volatile that the quickest look at 'Humans of New York' sends me into a spiral of wallow and despair. He's a cruel master, my dissertation.
However, moving my little office outside on a day that promised no August rain was a super decision. Compared to the stagnation of being stuck inside facing the wall, the garden felt alive around me. Granted, I was sat right in between the flowers, which was also in direct line of a bee highway, but they managed to find a route around me and hummed busily all day long.
Sometimes a slight move of location increases productivity tenfold, even if you need a few more extension cables in the process. I've felt quite distanced from summer recently, so a little adaptation meant I could experience some sun and get my word count done!
The next few weeks are going to be pretty intense, but I'm sure I'll find some time to blog in the midst of it all.
Btw, that coffee is still in great demand.
